Saloon up to 1969 (Part 1)

At the time of writing, the radiator grilles and side grilles for the Riley Elf and Wolseley Hornet have not been available for many years and it seems a fairly safe bet they never will be, due to low demand for these items.  If you're really desperate, however, it may still be worth contacting us for advice on refurbishing your old item or sourcing a reasonable secondhand one.

 

This is the late style bumper assembly, introduced towards the end of the 1980s, which may be fitted easily to an earlier Mini.  The changes from the original style include a different quantity of fixing bolts (but still utilising original body piercings to do so) and the 'spooned' shaping of the bumper ends.  The later bumper is available in stainless steel (stainless steel replaced most chromed finishes on exterior fittings on cars as the use of unleaded fuel became more widespread - the fumes can discolour chrome).  Later bumpers on an early Mini will satisfy all but the real purists.

Unfortunately the notes above on radiator grilles apply equally well concerning bumpers for the Riley Elf and Wolseley Hornet. If you are at a loss over what to do for bumpers for your car, again, please contact us for assistance.  Once in a while, a 'new old stock' bit of Riley or Wolseley specific brightwork comes up - miracles do happen - and you might phone just at the right time!  Usually we will at least be able to advise you on repairing or reconditioning your own original bumper.  In the meantime, we can at least offer the unique bumper fixing bolts, plus the over-riders:

One of the more obvious original features of the earliest standard specification Minis was the use of body coloured three-piece finishers applied to the sill seams and wheel arch edges.  From late 1961 however the standard models followed the more upmarket Minis and used bright three-piece stainless steel finishers instead.  Gradually from 1963 to 1965 the three-piece finishers were replaced on all models by long one-piece plastichrome items (see item 67 for these).  Minis still fitted with three-piece finishers in late 1964 and 1965 had the front wheel arch finishers shortened  to allow for the brake cooling cut-outs in the front panel.
