Rivets on the Mini fall into three types: the almost ubiquitous pop rivet, the semi-tubular rivet (on which the tube is swaged out upon fixing the rivet in place) and the bifurcated rivet (on which the legs are splayed upon fixing). Most open end pop rivets are of the ‘break stem’ type, where part of the mandrel’s stem along with its head is left in the rivet after fixing. One is a break head type, where the entire mandrel, including the head, falls away.
