Horns
Throughout the Mini's production life, an incredible variety of horns were fitted. Metal-bodied, plastic, Lucas, Clear Hooters, Mixo, high or low note, with single or twin electrical terminals, and seemingly any combination thereof. Of course - you've guessed it - the majority are no longer available new, but the confusion doesn't end there because the 'replacement' items made available have different features again. It all boils down to you needing a good description of what you've already got and matching it up as best you can to the illustrations and descriptions here.
You can tell high and low note horns by 'H' or 'L' on the horn mouth (if it's one of the horns with a mouth, that is). Above all, be sure when ordering a horn to check first the type of wiring terminals required on your car.

Radio Equipment
Radios only started to become factory-fitted optional equipment on Minis during the 1970s, and began to be fitted as standard on such models as the Mayfair and certain limited editions during the mid-1980s. From that point on, the Mini began its transition from basic transport to glitzy fashion icon and a whole range of stereo radio cassettes gradually became available. Most of them are now not available new, nor likely to be so in the future, so only one is listed here.

If you require a replacement radio for a mid to late 1990s Mini, at time of writing (2008) Somerford Mini possess the former Rover stock of the Phillips/Rover R660 radio - the last design of standard Mini radio - in black, as fitted from 1997 on (1994-96 R660s were in Ash Grey).

At some undefined point between 1997 and 2000, the fixing point for the mast on the roof aerial base changed diameter from 10mm to 17mm. The part number of the aerial base however remained the same (if you order an XUF100120 now, you will receive the 17mm diameter item). Please measure the diameter of the mast fixing point on the roof aerial base before choosing a replacement mast. Similarly, if fitting a new roof aerial base to a car previously fitted with a 10mm diameter item, a new 17mm diameter mast will also be required.
