Lower Wishbone Arms and Tie Rods
Since the mid-1960s the standard lower arms listed here, which accept tapered bushes with steel inserts, have been the only ones available to buy. The arms that preceded them were fitted with 'top hat' bushes without inserts. If you are working on an early 1960s Mini it is of course vital to purchase the correct bushes for your type of lower arms. If you haven't got the bushes to hand to determine which you need (or they're too mangled to recognise...), a quick rub with a wire brush on one of the lower arms will reveal a forging number - a tapered bush type arm will be marked '21A1879/81'.

Another early 1960s Mini suspension feature was the use of straight lower arm shafts (instead of having the more customary dip in them). The later lower arm shafts are a direct replacement for the early items.

Adjustable Suspension Units
Manufactured in the UK exclusively for Somerford Mini Ltd., These are high quality struts giving a very fine degree of ride height adjustment by the simple use of two spanners, making them ideal not only for 1959-91 Saloons but also for post-1992 Saloons, plus Travellers, Vans and Pick Ups - models on which rear adjustment would not have been easy using the older, traditional adjustable suspension systems. They fit standard cones and knuckle joints.

Sold individually, the adjustable suspension units are available in two specifications: standard or fast road/competition, the latter fitted with a grease nipple and employing a larger cone seat to increase the spring rate.

Moulton Smootha Ride Suspension Kit
Conceived by Dr. Alex Moulton, designer of the original Mini rubber cone and Hydrolastic suspension systems, Smootha Ride provides the simplicity of rubber cones but with an extraordinarily smooth, comfortable ride, more akin to the Hydrolastic system. It makes the car easier to drive, too.

The kit includes Moulton suspension cones for front and rear, adjustable suspension units for front and rear, negative camber and track brackets for the rear plus fitting and adjusting instructions. We recommend the use of our Koni standard height shock absorbers with this system.
