Riley Elf Dashboard
Of all Minis with centre mounted instruments, only the Elf originally had a wooden dashboard. Neither the wood nor the brackets to fit it are available. It may be possible to find secondhand parts so, as always, we advise anyone needing them to contact us to see if we can help.

Mayfair, Cooper, Cabriolet, Certain Limited Editions and 1997 On Models Dashboards
A large range of veneered, painted and alloy dashes were fitted to Minis from the early 1990s, nearly all of which are now not available (even before Mini production finished, Rover’s supplier went bust and deals were made to guarantee dashes for the last Minis built). Current poor availability will only get worse in future. All we dare list here are finite stocks of bare original dashes (see next paragraph) and their fittings, which by and large are still available.

A little glimmer of hope to follow the above statements is that Somerford Mini acquired from Unipart, when that organisation ceased to be Rover’s parts distributor, their stock of 1990s Mini veneers. More recently, we have also acquired the stocks of later dashes and parts - including such items as the desirable Paul Smith limited edition dashes - from the current Rover parts organisation, XPart. We suggest the following if you are after original dashboard parts:

Firstly, a handful of complete original dash sets are still available. If you give us your car details, we will ascertain availability and price of the set you’d like and supply it if we can.

The second method is to bring your car to us and sift through the parts we have. We cannot guarantee that we will have a matching part; it follows then that this it’s better to come to us when you need other parts for your Mini, to ensure you don’t have a wasted journey.

Accessory Dashboards
We also stock a huge range of the best quality accessory wooden, carbon fibre or alloy dashboards, fitting all models and many styled after the later types of original fitment dash. This plate blanks the trademark 'Rotodip' egg-shaped hole in the dash panel (front bulkhead) on offset instrument fitted cars. Once the Rotodip hole was abolished in 1996, the blanking plate became redundant. It is always referred to erroneously in factory parts books as an instrument base plate - a throwback to the days of the Riley Elf when, fitted with several brackets, it did indeed support the instruments behind the Elf's wooden dashboard.
