Due to different holes of different sizes appearing on body shells manufactured in different plants (for instance, paint drain holes differing between Longbridge and Cowley built bodies), it would take more space than is available here to list all the plugs used down through the years, together with their applications. The above are application-specific plugs and grommets to be found on Minis. What follows is a list of round, natural rubber or plastic plugs and grommets, with sizes, which can be used to seal other holes in the car body. By the way, a ferrule grommet as listed below is a plug with a large hole in it (for example, to stop a hose chafing on the edge of a hole it passes through). A diaphragm grommet is a plug with a small hole in it (for example, to stop a cable from chafing on the edge of a hole, whilst sealing the hole from water ingress).

This is basically the old BMC range of natural rubber or plastic plugs and grommets. There is a corresponding range of items made from oil-resistant material: the 'RFR' range, which used to be distinguished by their red colour but seem to come through black more often than not nowadays. RFR-prefixed plugs and grommets have very specific applications and so are not listed here. The diaphram grommets shown as being suitable for large or extra large cables or pipes have internal holes capable of expanding to a greater degree.
